It doesn't matter what type of watch you have... be it an old Timex or a Patek Philippe... Mr. Horn will take care of your timepiece with great care. In addition to repairs, he's got great deals on almost any type of watch or clock you can imagine. The shop is small but it's like walking into a museum and he's always eager to share a story (or two) about something he has on display. This is no mall kiosk, it's the real deal. But don't be intimidated either. I wouldn't take my watch anywhere else.

Mr. Horn and his wife are wonderful. I am so grateful to have found this wonderful shop. I stopped in for a new watch battery and he replaced it while I waited. I couldn't believe how cheap it was ($10!) compared with other places downtown that wanted at least $20 just for a battery replacement. While he had it in his hands, he noticed the clasp over the crown (the dial that adjusts the time) was loose and wouldn't stay closed. He pointed it out to me and I already knew about it and was going to ask him if he could repair it regardless. He fixed it and didn't even charge me for it.

Maria is the absolute best! She designed both my engagement and wedding rings as well as my husbands wedding band. She cares so much about not only the pieces she is creating, but about you and your experience. She is extremely knowledgeable and goes above and beyond to answer all questions and give the best customer service!

I brought in a German cockoo clock and a 120 year old mantle clock. He fixed the cockoo clock on the spot for no charge! The mantle clock took seven months because of the time it takes to get replacement parts these days and the big backlog of clocks Alex is working on. The clock works! and the charge was reasonable.

I recently had to get batteries replaced in a bunch of wristwatches and my Dad recommended Alexander Horn & Co. as the most competent local professional. My expectations were really blown away because Alex is truly an expert master of his craft, and obviously passionate about fine jewelry and timepieces. He not only took care of the batteries, and cleaned and re-set all the watches, he also adjusted several of the bands for me. Moreover, he and his wife each identified details about two of my luxury watches that I never knew or noticed about my own timepieces, including how they work, appropriate care practices and even seminal information about their prospective real value! Lastly, and most importantly, Alex and his wife run the business together and theyre both genuinely lovely people, with whom its a pleasure to do business. I give them my highest and most heartfelt recommendation.

My wife has been a customer for many years and she has always liked the friendliness and expertise of Alex and Maria. I was just in today with a family heirloom pocket watch that was no longer running. Alex opened it and within 3 minutes he had cleaned and lubricated it. Works perfectly and he refused to accept payment. These are people you should trust with your items of value.

I called and stopped by because my watch was behaving inconsistently and I thought it might need a new battery. Alexander opened the back and realized it was an automatically winding watch, which I didn't know anything about. He re-set it for me, walked me through how it worked with tips on how to keep it in good order, and told me to come back in a week or so if it didn't fix the problem. Very helpful and friendly, I'd definitely go back if I had any repair problems or wanted to purchase a clock.

Best to call in advance to make sure he will be there and doesn't have another appointment set up.

I had an old Rolex watch that broke ... went in to Alexander Horn and the owner proceeded to not only explain what probably broke but he promptly unscrewed the back of the watch and reviewed the guts with me. It wasn't cheap to repair my rolex but that added level of service made me comfortable enough to leave my watch for repair. It was done in about 6 weeks, Looked brand new (well as new as a 30 yo watch can look) and works flawlessly.

I had a pair of my mothers earrings that I never wore and they were just sitting ion a drawer. My daughter-in-law had Maria make a beautiful ring and that gave me the idea to do something with Mom's earrings. I brought them in for Maria to see and she listened to what I had an idea of what I wanted. She came up with a gorgeous, original design ring that I just love. The other earring she used to make an eye-catching necklace on a very unusual chain that she set with some of the left-over diamonds from the ring. I can even wear the chain alone without the pendant. I just love what she'd done. The workmanship is beautiful and she really cares about making her customer happy. She certainly succeeded with me.

Quite frankly, Alex and Maria are quality people who operate not only a repair shop for clocks and watches but jewelry repair and design. I'm a watch addict and Alex is a great resource for higher end previously owned watches as well. When my son, who lives in NYC, was getting engaged, I had him speak and meet with Maria to design an engagement ring. Maria was able to provide a diamond far superior to what he was getting "A Deal"i for in NYC after considerable shopping. Subsequently, his friends have become customers of Maria. In addition, my daughters have brought jewelry in for redesign and purchased new pieces also. Small shop with extensive services. You won't be disappointed by going here!

Today, I googled “Movado watch battery replacement” near me and my search results listed 3 shops. Luckily, I chose Alexander Horn & Co. in Ardmore. When I arrived at the beautiful shop, Maria promptly greeted me at the counter. She was very pleasant and asked how she could help me. I told her I needed to replace the batteries for 2 Movado watches. Immediately, Alex came from the back and started to inspect the watches. In 15 minutes, Alex had replaced the 2 batteries and removed 2 links from the watch I was wearing. All for $21. I had been charged as much as $50 for a battery from other retailers. Most importantly, he did the work while I waited. In the past, I had to drop off the watch and pick it up 1-2 weeks later. Excellent service, minimal wait time and low cost. You can’t find that anywhere! Alexander Horn & Co. will be my “go to” shop for all my watch repair needs!!!
